The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will be held on August 30, 2020 in New York City. Keke Palmer is set to host. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are the most nominated acts with nine each. Nominees for Push Best New Artist were revealed on July 23, 2020, and other categories were announced on July 30. Fan voting also began on July 30 and ended on August 23. Nominees for Song of Summer, Best Group and Everyday Heroes: Frontline Medical Workers were additionally released on August 24.

Ceremony information

The awards were originally scheduled to be held at Barclays Center for the first time since 2013. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was expected to be held with “limited or no audience”, as one of the first major indoor events to be held in the city since the onset of the pandemic in the state, with MTV also announcing plans for the show to “[span] all five boroughs” to “pay homage to the strength, spirit and incredible resilience of NYC and its beloved residents”.

MTV eventually scrapped the indoor component of the ceremony at Barclays after “close consultation with state and local health officials” and announced that it would be conducted in an outdoor format across the city; the Center will host the 2021 show instead.[3] New one-off award categories for “Quarantine Performance” and “Best Music Video from Home” were added on July 30 in light of the ongoing pandemic. Three additional categories were announced on August 24: Song of Summer, Best Group and “Everyday Heroes: Frontline Medical Workers”, with the latter created “to celebrate performances by COVID-19 first responders”. The awards will be simulcast live by ViacomCBS half-sister network The CW on August 30, marking the VMA’s first ever broadcast on terrestrial television in the United States.

International Day Against Nuclear Tests

tests

The International Day against Nuclear Tests is observed on August 29. It was established on December 2, 2009 at the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly by the resolution 64/35, which was adopted unanimously.

The resolution in particular calls for increasing awareness “about the effects of nuclear weapon test explosions or any other nuclear explosions and the need for their cessation as one of the means of achieving the goal of a nuclear-weapon-free world”. The resolution was initiated by Kazakhstan together with several sponsors and cosponsors to commemorate the closure of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site on August 29, 1991.

Following the establishment of the International Day against Nuclear Tests, in May 2010 all state parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons committed themselves to “achieve the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons”.

⭐ Feel like a star in everything you do

Pursuing success is a stubbornness that often doesn’t bring good morale. Often you can be a meteor that goes out quickly … For this you have to look like a star in the little things you do..

In today’s world, image probably matters more
of everything: the likes, the profile picture, social media etc … but it is precisely for this reason that we must take the right distance in order not to be commanded by the success of social networks ..

🎵 DUA LIPA – Hallucinate

“Hallucinate” is a song by English singer Dua Lipa from her second studio album Future Nostalgia (2020). The song was written by Lipa alongside Frances and SG Lewis, with the latter of the three and Stuart Price handling the production. It was serviced to contemporary hit radio formats in the United Kingdom on 17 July 2020 as the fourth single from the album. The song spans electro swing, dance, disco, house, psychedelic, and synth-pop genres, drawing influence from electronic and 2000s music, with soulful flashes and a house beat. Lyrically, the song describes how crazy love can make one feel.

LYRIC

Pocketful of honey and I’m ready to go
No, I ain’t got no money, but I’m letting you know
But I’ma love you like a fool
Breathe you in ’til I hallucinate, mm
Body make it silly, make it do what I want
Oh baby, I can make it pretty, I can string you along
But I’ma love you like a fool
Breathe you in ’til I hallucinate, mm
No, I couldn’t live without your touch
No, I could never have too much
I’ll breathe you in forever and ever
Hallucinate
I hallucinate when you call my name
Got stars in my eyes
And they don’t fade when you come my way
I’m losing my m-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
I hallucinate when you call my name
Got stars in my
Put you in my hall of fame, middle of the wall
Yeah, you’re my one, my favorite, my ride or die, oh
Yeah, I’ma love you like a fool
Breathe you in ’til I hallucinate, mm
No, I couldn’t live without your touch
No, I could never have too much
I’ll breathe you in forever and ever
Hallucinate
I hallucinate when you call my name
Got stars in my eyes
And they don’t fade when you come my way
I’m losing my m-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
I hallucinate when you call my name
Got stars in my
Wanna be at where you are
Let’s go dancing in the dark
Don’t wait, you can push to start
Lose control
Kill me slowly with your kiss
Wrap me ’round your fingertips
Damn, I need another hit
Make me lose my mind
I hallucinate when you call my name
Got stars in my eyes
And they don’t fade when you come my way
I’m losing my m-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
M-m-m-mind
I hallucinate when you call my name
Got stars in my

🎵 KYGO – What’s Love Got To Do With It (Tina Turner)

This is one of hit of summer and 2020.

On July 17, 2020, Norwegian DJ and producer Kygo released a remix of the song “What’s Love Got To Do With It” of Tina Turner of 1984.

LYRIC

You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it’s only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It’s physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that ooo
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
What’s love but a second hand emotion
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
It may seem to you that I’m acting confused
When you’re close to me
If I tend to look dazed I’ve read it someplace
I’ve got cause to be
There’s a name for it
There’s a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason you do it for me ooo
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
What’s love but a second hand emotion
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
I’ve been taking on a new direction
But I have to say
I’ve been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way oh oh oh
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
What’s love but a second hand emotion
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
What’s love but a sweet old fashioned notion
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
ooh got to do with it
(What’s love but a second hand emotion)
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
(What’s love got to do with it) got to do with it
(What’s love)

26th august: World Dog Day

Giornata-mondiale-del-cane (1)

Here the paw, today more than ever. International Dog Day is celebrated on 26 August, an initiative that serves to pay due recognition to what, by definition, is identified as man’s best friend. Conceived in 2004 in the United States, on the initiative of Colleen Paige, dog educator and author of books on the subject who has chosen this date recalling the one in which her family’s first adoption took place when she was 10 years old

Anyone who hasn’t had a dog doesn’t know what it means to be loved.

(Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)

On January 9, 1839 The French Academy of Sciences announced the process and a few months later, on August 19, 1839, the French government announced the invention as a gift free to the world. 19th august: World Humanitarian Day

whd

World Humanitarian Day is an international day dedicated to recognize humanitarian personnel and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as part of a Swedish-sponsored GA Resolution A/63/L.49 on the Strengthening of the Coordination of Emergency Assistance of the United Nations, and set as 19 August. It marks the day on which the then Special Representative of the Secretary-General to Iraq, Sérgio Vieira de Mello and 21 of his colleagues were killed in the bombing of the UN Headquarters in Baghdad.
The designation of 19 August as World Humanitarian Day is the outcome of the relentless efforts of the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Foundation and his family working closely with the Ambassadors of France, Switzerland, Japan and Brazil in both Geneva and New York to table and steer the draft Resolution through the General Assembly. The Foundation conveyed its deep gratitude to the United Nations General Assembly and all Member States for the worthy gesture of recognition that has ensured that the tragic loss of Vieira de Mello and his 21 colleagues and all humanitarian personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifices in relieving the suffering of victims of humanitarian crises have not been in vain.

17 august ’82: The first compact disc for commercial use was produced at a Philips factory in Hanover, Germany;

firstCDproduced
the CD in question was the musical album The Visitors by the Swedish group ABBA.

Its genesis is due to the research, by the world of telephony, of an efficient system for multiplying information, through the digitization and simplification of signals. The joint application of the binary numerical system and the laser to sound gave birth to the compact disc.

In the early years the project was initially followed by a joint venture between DuPont and Philips. DuPont could boast an enormous experience in polycarbonate (invented in 1928 by DuPont itself) and a strong presence in the Netherlands with a chemical installation in Dordrecht, near Rotterdam

Preliminary studies revealed that the development of the CD would allow the creation of a disc with a capacity of over 600 MB of data and probably over an hour of music in digital format. This did not impress DuPont managers due to the huge investments required: taking into account that personal computers at the time had 64 KB to 4 MB memories and 20 MB hard drives, the capacity of the new medium would have been exaggerated in comparison to the real needs era. Even for music it was unthinkable that the whole world would replace turntables and recorders with the new, very expensive optical disc players (and in fact this did not happen on a mass level until the 1980s). DuPont management rejected the project and therefore asked Philips to continue on its own, thus forcing it to seek other alliances for the development of support.

On August 17, 1982 the first CD for commercial use was produced in a Philips factory in Hanover in Germany: Richard Strauss’s Symphony of the Alps conducted by Herbert von Karajan with the Berliner Philharmoniker. The first pop album to be printed on the new medium was The Visitors of the Swedish group ABBA, but the first to be released was Billy Joel’s 52nd Street, released on October 1, 1982 in Japan together with the player.

The first CD to exceed one million copies sold was Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms album in 1985
