Have you ever wondered if a saint has hobbies? Probably some saint certainly had hobbies. But believe that most of them have never had any. Above all because it is overwhelming that the saints perform their duties with the joy of those who perform almost a hobby. Certainly there were saints who passed martyrdom, others instead fulfilled their duties with the joy of a child.
St. Peter is the saint par excellence, the one who has the keys to Paradise. Many people do not even know the life of this Saint, who before his conversion had a wife and daughters, and enjoyed himself as a normal man on earth. I do not believe that there is absolute sanctity but rather a hierarchy of saints. Surely the greatest saints had no hobbies because, as the Gospel says, the Son of man has nowhere to rest the Head. Thus the greatest saints, who imitate Jesus, do not even have a pillow on which to rest.
We all need an anchor, to stop us from the hectic world, or to hold on in difficult times. It is always difficult to understand what we need in sad times; with the name of Anchor we refer metaphorically to something that serves our soul and not only …
There’s anything better than the anchor to refer to something that keeps us steady in times of storm.
It allows us to stand firm in a place without sinking and avoid sinking along with the boat in the abyss.
But is that the best place to drop anchor? Difficult to establish, almost impossible. We always want to know how the bottom is to make sure that the anchor does not move. A bottom too deep certainly does not allow you to put down the anchor!
When I was little, every time I saw a port I always wanted to see the bottom, as if the transparency of the water gave me support and tranquility.
In today’s world, where technology breaks into our daily lives, books are the only place to drop anchor. In books we are able to catch the best thoughts by returning children who want to see the bottom to mirror their soul.
As always, Pawel Kuczynski’s drawings inspire me with thoughts and reflections.
What is freedom? It is the power to choose between multiple possibilities in a precise moment! But the past is a merchant and leads us to think that destiny has often chosen for us, as if everything were already written.
Other times we think that our choices are dictated only by our will, when instead they are influenced by a myriad of factors and circumstances that make up the system.
The gear of this system is run by a few powerful people who lead us to believe that we live in a world of possibilities when in reality they are the ones who choose for us.
To give an example we can think of the political elections: our vote is a drop in the sea and does not influence much if in our life we do not fight to create a group of people who share our thoughts.
Voting is often influenced by big of i-tech that can influence voting with social and internet. We believe we can choose instead we are deluded even when we interact with the system, because fighting it is itself the project of the system.
