International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade

Remember Slavery Sticker_Final

International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is a United Nations international observance designated in 2007 to be marked on 25 March every year.

The day honours and remembers those who suffered and died as a consequence of the transatlantic slave trade, which has been called “the worst violation of human rights in history”, in which over 400 years more than 15 million men, women and children were the victims.

It was first observed in 2008 with the theme “Breaking the Silence, Lest We Forget”. The theme of 2015 was “Women and Slavery”. The International Day also “aims at raising awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today”.

With 2015 marking the start of the UN’s International Decade for People of African Descent, a permanent memorial was unveiled at the UN headquarters in New York, entitled “The Ark of Return” and designed by Haitian-American architect Rodney Leon, who also designed the African Burial Ground National Monument.

21th March: International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed annually on 21 March. On that day, in 1960, police opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the apartheid pass laws. Proclaiming the day in 1966, the United Nations General Assembly called on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination.

In South Africa, Human Rights Day is a public holiday celebrated on 21 March each year. The day commemorates the lives of those who died to fight for democracy and equal human rights for all in South Africa during apartheid, an institutionally racist system built upon racial discrimination. The Sharpeville Massacre on 21 March 1960 is the particular reference day for this public holiday.

20th March: The International Day of Happiness

The International Day of Happiness is celebrated worldwide every year on 20 March, and was originally conceptualized and founded in 2006 by Jayme Illien, CEO of the United Nations New World Order project, to advance happiness as a fundamental human right for all human beings, and happytalism, as new economic system, theory, and philosophy, which achieves the United Nations global goals, and the happiness, well-being, and freedom of all life on earth.

The next international day of happiness is March 20, 2021.

The 2020 International Day of Happiness campaign theme is ‘Happiness For All, Together’”. To celebrate, UNIDOHappiness, the UN secretariat for the International Day Of Happiness, is calling on all 7.8 billion people and all 206 nations and territories, to take the “Ten Steps to Global Happiness” challenge and call to action. The ten steps to global happiness are “ten easy steps any individual, organization, or country, can take on the international day of happiness, and throughout happiness week, to celebrate the international day of happiness, while also advancing the happiness, wellbeing, and freedom of all life on earth by 2050, when the United Nations forecasts global population to reach 10 billion”. The first step is “Tell Everyone”, which is designed “spread the word” to increase global awareness about the very existence of the international day of happiness, and the UN’s unanimous recognition of happiness as a human right, as well as happiness as an approach to sustainable economic and human development.

The 2006 origin and inspiration for creating the international day of happiness initially came from founder Jayme Illien’s belief that the happiness, wellbeing, and freedom of all life on earth is the ultimate purpose of every human being, nation, and society. Illien developed his vision for global happiness as humanity’s ultimate purpose, through a life spent on the frontlines saving orphaned and abandoned children fleeing war, genocide, and extreme poverty, and theorizing about solutions to the human condition, and the great challenges facing humankind, after he himself was abandoned as an orphan, and rescued from a roadside in India in 1980, by missionaries of Mother Teresa, who first named him Adam, and sent him to live in America.

The regression of our mind

Take a good look at the illustration of the very good Pawel Kuczysnki … maybe you won’t be able to notice the ball of change … that’s what is out of place … Looking at things with the spirit of believing that they are true makes us regress … Our senses delude us to the extent that our soul wants to console itself in the comfort of certainty ..

Our mind is used to running with various speeds because each moment has its speed in relation to irrationality and feelings.

Facebook cancels its most important conference of the year due the coronavirus

COVID-19 infections – often simply referred to as coronavirus – are increasing, especially outside China, but at the same time, psychosis in Italy is declining sharply. We are however in an emergency period and, to avoid unpleasant situations, Facebook has decided to cancel part of its F8 conference, which it holds annually with developers from all over the world to reveal the news on its services.

This does not mean that there will be no news. Instead of the events planned by the company for the next 5 and 6 May, Facebook will hold “local events” and release “videos and live streaming content”. Below is the announcement of the company:

“In light of the growing concerns around COVID-19, this year we made the difficult decision to cancel the part of the F8 conference which included face-to-face meetings in order to prioritize the health and safety of our development partners, our employees and everyone else who helps make the event possible. We plan to replace the conference events held in person with local events, videos and live streaming content. “

Facebook delved into the topic on the official blog through the words of Konstantinos Papamiltiadis, Director of Developer Platforms and Programs. The company manager wrote that “priority must be given to the health and safety” of all those who are inside or outside the company. He also said that Facebook had tried to explore several alternative options to allow the conference to go ahead, concluding however that it would not have made sense to carry it forward without the presence of developers from all over the world.

Waking up early in the morning is always difficult…

How many people want to get up early in the morning? As a rest you would always want to wake up in the morning .. but unfortunately it almost always happens that we have to wake up with fatigue and sleep and this leads us to say that we would like to wake up early … When you wake up early you have calm and serenity to face things as if we were ahead of time and the rest of the world.

Fatigue is a bad advisor and often leads us to do things against common sense, although sometimes fatigue is inevitable … for our essential commitments. If we were not to sleep we could do anything we would like, but tiredness requires us to balance … sometimes it is better to do fewer things but well … rarely the opposite!

20th february: World Day of Social Justic

World Justice Day is an international anniversary celebrated on 20th February of each year, since 2009, organized by the United Nations Organization to promote the theme of social justice worldwide.
This day is the prerequisite for peace and security between nations because, through respect for human rights and the fundamental freedoms of all, it is able to remove the barriers that people face in accessing social welfare due to gender , age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, disability, working conditions and justice.
The theme of the day for 2020 is “Bridging the inequality gap to achieve social justice“. But what are the main inequalities to be filled?
We are witnessing the dehumanization of economic policies aimed at enhancing only financial results but instead the evaluation of results should be encouraged in light of the positive impact for citizens.
There is still a large pay gap between men and women in the presence of a similar role, function and responsibility and insufficient measures to reconcile life and work times.
Political and entrepreneurial strategies are slow to implement the energy transitions necessary to ensure environmental justice and persevere in the exploitation of the natural resources of developing countries for the benefit and use of developed countries, but instead should tend to contain their economic and social gap .

The globalization of markets, the spread of technology, the expansion of the markets for goods and services, the expansion of investments and the internationalization of companies and business processes have not been enough to ensure fair employment and working conditions, equality and protection social development in developing countries, nor to set fair global labor standards.

Year 2020: beginning of the decade ’20!

2020 is an important year. Although from a conceptual point of view the decade begins in 2021, formally it starts in a few hours. The 1920s will in fact be represented as the years of the past decades of 1900 because until now the ’10s and the’ 00s had an ambiguous representation. The 20’s are about to begin and we hope they are as wonderfully memorable as the 70s and 80s of the 1900s were.

🎵 COLDPLAY – Champion of the world

After listening to the whole album on spotify I can say that this is the best song on the album. The style of the various songs differs greatly from that of the previous albums. Some may be disappointed by the more classic and less rock style.

In fact I like this album less, where the voices and the choirs take over the music and the voice of Chris Martin. Probably the band had the need to break a bit with the classic pop-rock that made all the songs of real hits.

The first part of the text is in Igbo language, a language of an African ethnic group that lives in Nigeria and the translation is:

What are you talking about, dear God?
For everything
God made it

Gi nwa nke chukwu, gini ka ina ekwu
N’ihi ihe nile
Nke chukwu mere

I tried my best to be just like
The other boys in school
I tried my best to get it right
And died at every duel
This mountainside is suicide
This dream will never work
Still the sign upon my headstone, write
“A champion of the world”

Oh oh-oh
Oh oh-oh-oh oh oh

I tried my best to stay alight
Fly like a firework
I tried my best at taking flight
But my rocket ship reversed
Oh, referee, don’t stop the fight
Everyone can see I’m hurt
But I’ll stand before conquistadors
Till I’m champion of the world

(When I sail) And when I sail
I’m sailing west
(Know I might fail) Knowing I might fail
But still I’m hoping for the best
(In my dreams) And in my dreams
Onto my chest
She’ll pin the colours and say
“I wandered the whole wide world but
Baby, you’re the best”

Lo lo-lo-lo lo oh
Lo lo-lo-lo lo

So I’m flying on my bicycle
Heading upwards from the Earth
I am jumping with no parachute
Out into the universe
I have E.T. on my bicycle
Because giving up won’t work
Now I’m riding on my rocketship
And I’m champion of the world

Gi nwa nke chukwu, gini ka ina ekwu
N’ihi ihe nile
Nke chukwu mere

Navigo verso ovest

Fuori nell’universo
Ho E.T. sulla mia bicicletta
Perché arrendersi non servirà
Ora sto guidando la mia nave spaziale
E io sono il campione del mondo

🎵 U2 – City of Blinding Lights

I believe this is the most suitable song on this day, where shops and malls have dazzling lights on the cities.

The more you see the less you know
The less you find out as you go
I knew much more then than I do now
Neon heart dayglo eyes
A city lit by fireflies
They’re advertising in the skies
For people like us
And I miss you when you’re not around
I’m getting ready to leave the ground…
Ooh ooh ooh
OOh Ooh ooh
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
Don’t look before you laugh
Look ugly in a photograph
Flash bulbs purple irises
The camera can’t see
I’ve seen you walk unafraid
I’ve seen you in the clothes you made
Can you see the beauty inside of me?
What happened to the beauty I had inside of me
And I miss you when you’re not around
I’m getting ready to leave the ground
Ooh ooh ooh
OOh Ooh ooh
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
Time… Time
Won’t leave me as I am
But time won’t take the boy out of this man
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
The more you know the less you feel
Some pray for others steal
Blessings are not just for the ones who kneel… luckily

Più vedi, meno sai
Più cresci, meno capisci
io sapevo più cose rispetto a quanto so adesso

cuore che dà luce, luce giornaliera agli occhi
la città è illuminata dalle lucciole
si stanno annunciando nei cieli
e noi piacciamo alle persone

e mi manchi quando non sei qui intorno mi sto preparando a lasciare il suolo

Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh

oh sei così bella stanotte…
nella città di luci accecanti

non pensare prima di ridere
cerca di sembrare cattiva in una fotografia
lampade, iridi color porpora che
la macchina fotografica non può vedere

ti ho vista camminare senza paura
